“Like porcupines in love, appraisals are a pain for both parties”.
The above is commonly held perception of the appraisal process. The purpose behind this course is to help make the appraisal process part of “business as usual” as the process is cyclical.
Methods for collecting relevant data, comparing performance to requirements, achieving improvements and setting targets are covered.
Completing the appraisal document describing observable behaviour, and succinct writing are examined in some detail, as is the setting up and conducting of the appraisal interview.
There are also sessions on questioning and listening skills along with handy tips and self-assessment questionnaires designed to make the process both easier, and more meaningful.
Objectives
Participants will learn the benefits of effective appraisals, both for themselves and for the appraisee, how to identify areas for improvement and measure improvement.
The organisation will gain an empowered and informed leader, who will ensure that goals are cascaded through the organisation and monitored effectively to improve productivity and achieve desired outcomes. The workforce will develop and feel valued.
