Our Chairing and Facilitating Effective Meetings training course has been designed for those who need to run, conduct and lead regular meetings and wish to make them more productive.

The objective of attending the training is to give participants the skills and confidence to ensure that meetings achieve their aims and are seen as a positive contribution to the management process.

The course will cover how to cope with difficult people and situations in a meetings context, how to prepare and participate, as well as how to support others in the community who may be Chairing on your behalf.

Note-taking and Keeping track of key points 

  • Different ways to take notes in different situations and meetings
  • Technology can help – exploring Apps, recorders and transcribing tools
  • Recording information rapidly, tips on shortened writing

Finalising, editing and proofreading

  • The need to make the minutes visually appealing
  • Formatting and structuring the minutes for clarity and professionalism
  • Checking for accuracy, brevity and clarity
  • Using active sentences, avoiding the passive voice

Technology in Meetings

  • Points to consider for a successful virtual meeting
  • Personalised feedback and input on how to make your virtual meetings work

Develop Communications Skills

  • Questioning and listening techniques
  • Identifying the key message and the needs of the audience
  • Building rapport
  • Maintaining assertiveness
